The part of this case that intrigues me is the part the court avoided. Steriltek proved to the court that it was a false positive, but the court did not rule one way or another on the issue of whether the instruments should have been sequestered until the BI was read.

First thing that comes to mind is not all lawyers are created equal. The second probably goes back to the discovery phase and depositions by both sides. The court ruled on the evidence presented. A good defense starts with knowledge of the "what" and the "how" you do your job.
