Has any one ever been asked to sterilize metal thumb tacks for surgical use? I have never heard of this and because it is not designed for surgical use i have decided not to allow it.

That is a wise decision. Unless they can come up with Manufactures recommendations for tacks or any other item to be sterilized ,then we wouldn't sterilize it. To answer your question I haven't been asked to sterilize thumb tacks before. Out of curiosity why does the surgeon want them?

The surgeon wants to use them during laparoscopic colectomies. I'm not sure of the exact use.
