Does anyone currently have in their inventory the clear plastic vaginal stents made by Marina Medical? We just recently acquired a set, and the manufacturer guidelines said the first choice for sterilization was gluterhalderyde soaking. The second choice was regular steam (4 min, 270 deg F, prevac). Since we don't use Cidex at our facility we went ahead and put them in the steam autoclave. Guess what? They melted. We contacted Mariana Medical, and they seem to be at a loss. They're going to replace the melted stents, but we still do not know how to properly sterilize these. OR wants to be able to put them on the sterile field, otherwise we would suggest just disinfection, since it is only a semi-critical device. If someone has these, what do you do at your facility?
