Can you tell me what the guidelines are regarding the washing of rigid containers after they are opened and removed from the o.r. room before the patient is in the room. our manager says they do not need to be washed if this is the case.

I would look at AAMI TIR 12 section 4.2.3.6 and 4.3.4. Also ST 35 in section 7.4.3.2 and E9.

We clean all our rigid walls whether the pt was in the room or not. The fact that they left CS warrants that, at least in our case.
