Major & Minor Trays

Does your OR charge for instrument trays? If so, is it by a major or minor tray? How is a major and minor tray defined? By the type of procedure or the number of instruments on the tray?

How can your facility charge for a reusable item? Do you not have some type of group case charging system? I have worked at places that in the past charged for instrument sets but found out this is a big "NO NO" with insurance companies. We are not even allowed to charge for a K-wire if it is not implanted.
