Our facility is undergoing renovation and will be purchasing new case carts. Our current ones are open wire carts which are covered during transport. Does anyone use closed case carts that they would recommend? Some of the larger closed case carts are short and with the multiple heavy loaners for ortho and spine, it would seem back breaking to load. Thanks for your help.

My facility uses enclosed case carts from Lakeside. We have the tall ones as well as the short ones. They work really good for us.

We have some case carts with doors for use and we are actually going to get rid of them and go to wire carts. If you would like more information on this please contact me at diaza@mercyhealth.com and I could take a photo and email it to you.

We use the shorter case carts and utilize the surface in decontam to sort the intrument set. When looking at carts, some have better doors and are built more solid so they don't make quite so much noise when traveling from place to place. Be sure you get the best wheels available becasue cart washers cause a lot of wear on them. I can see benefit to the tall ones when you have multiple loaners like you mentioned. Sometimes ours are packed too tightly in OR.

We use enclosed carts by Metro with a moveable shelf inside. They can get heavy with bigger cases and since they aren't the tall ones sometimes have to use a second cart. Can see benefit in a few tall ones.
