I need help once again - at a previous hospital I was told by a consultant that we should not use stainless steel brushes on instruments because it takes the finish off. I had a dental assistant ask me today what they are supposed to use to get the cement off their instruments with if they don't use stainless steel. Any comments to help are greatly appreciated. THANKS

You can use stainless steel brushed on most surgical stainless steel instruments. Instruments with special coating for use in laser surgeries would be problem. There really is no reason not to use stainless steel brushes. Key Surgical carries both stainless steel and brass brushes if you want an alternative
