Does anyone put moisture into the tubing prior to sterilization? I have an old sterilization book that states, moisture should be added prior to sterilzation to ensure the steam will be pulled through the tubing.

AAMI guideline St 46 5.6.2.9 states "Unless contraindicated by the device manufacturer's instructions, the lumens of devices such as catheters, needles and tubings should be flushed with distilled or demineralized water prior to packaging, and any stylets or plugs should be removed. Sterilization should follow immediately." Yes - we do follow this guideline.
