What do you think about flashing autoclavable rigid scopes?

What does the manufacture say, you should always go there first, if they can't or won't answer that specifically then do only what they have written.
Just a suggetion.

Most newer scopes from Wolfe and K Storz are autoclavable in a non gravity environment

Hi,
We are asking the same question and trying to clarify if sterilization in a Stattim sterilizer cassette to point of use, is considered Flashing. OR staff want quicker turn-around times. They use Steris System 1 now and to me that is still the same as flashing to point of use. Unwrapped, wet, in a container opened to point of use. I am concerned that the quick cool down time will cause the scopes to crack. I would appreciate any opinions or options others have found to work.

We have found that those scopes that are autoclavable have less downtime for repair than those which go through Steris System I processing.

We have flashed some of our rigid 5mm scopes with no troubles. Most of the time we are turning over the rigids that we use for cystology cases, and they all get run through the system 1, also with no troubles. We did have some trouble with the nonautoclavable ones that we use to use, the acid was eating up the seals in the scopes. We posted a big sign on each of the flash machines to remind the nurses/scrubs to NOT cool the scopes in water because that would damage the scope.
