View Full Version : Positioners
What are other facilities using fas a sterile positioning device for procedures such as Fem-Pop Grafts, Orthopaedic procedures. Currently, we are using a stack of towels wrapped in a towel and taped -- problem is the tape contains latex and thus is no good for patients with latex allergy.

We have a variety of positioning devices, but most often we use a positioning gel pad (AliMed). They are yellow bags filled with a mostly solid gel, and seem to work well. The only negative is that at least the ones we have aren't all that big, so we end up either rolling bath blankets for bigger pads, or metal triangle positioners for tibial roddings.

Gigi:
When I scrub instead of tape to secure the towel around the other towels, I use a skin stapler. I've never had a problem with the bump coming undone during the case or the staples compromising sterile technique. Sharp towel clamps also work well.
Hope this helps!
