Does anyone use 3M Sterrad Indicator Tape? If so, does it have a clear color change or do you have to interpret various degrees of color change?
Does anyone know of any problems with the 3M tape?
Thank you. :)

We have been using the 3M Sterrad tape without any problems for at least a couple of years. It turns from bright blue stripe on white to pink stripe after sterilization. We also use their indicators. The color change is very obvious.
Since the color was very different from what we were used to seeing, we came up with a reminder of "pink is perfect" to help with visual identification.

Yes, it is blue strip and changes to pink. I like it! Very easy to read. Cheaper too!

I've noticed that when you overlap Sterrad tape, the tape underneath does not change color. Being that we're talking about the outside of the wrap. Would this ever be an issue?

Our 3M Rep told us not to overlap the sterrad tape for that reason

That's interesting.....I wonder why it wouldn't change underneath. I know the indicator and tape fade if left out in light. Just sensitive materials I suppose.

Hi All-
Our 3M rep. never talked to us about the Sterrad tape. We use so many 3M products sometimes I think we should have a wing on one of their builds. We use the ASP brand of Sterrad tape. Like Dan B mentioned, if you overlap the tape, it won't change (fully) the color below. The reason for this is because Sterrad is a contact sterilant...it will sterilize anything it comes in contact with...one of the reasons lumens are a problem with Sterrad, but has trouble going through some items.

Joel, you are so close to 3M they should just toss a roll of the tape over your fence and declare you a beta test site! ;)
