Processing Reuseable Linen

Can anyone tell me if there is an AAMI Standard stating linen should be processed in an enclosed room? We are remodeling and I have requested a small room to process linen and in reviewing my floor plans this has been rejected. I need documentation supporting my argument. PLEASE HELP!

AAMI ST65 deals solely with processing surgical textiles. I have not had any luck in the couple of minutes that I have been looking in finding where it says that a separate room is required or recommended. What I am getting is that the linen should be inspected and de-linted at the laundry facility, whether you clean them in house, or they are sorted after being cleaned elsewhere. I can't tell you if there is a standard or guideline for a separate room for processing linen, BUT I can tell you from experience, that delinting and folding linen generates a lot of fiber and dust particles. We did not have a separate room at a previous facility, and our shelves were covered with a fine bluish "dust" from the linen. (towels especially) Hope this is helpful
