Hey! Need some help. I have a Dr. who wants to use Glass Beads on some of his procedures and I need to know if these can be Sterilized? I have been going crazy with this:eek: Any info will be great.

Hi Kris:

What about contacting the manufacturer of the beads and getting sterilization parameters from them? The FDA says it is the manufacturer's responsibility to supply you with this information.

Hope this helps. Have a great day!

Kris,
I agree with Blaine. If they don't have any parameters/recommendations, then you cannot sterilize them, or at least you cannot validate their sterility. I had an issue come up about tattoo ink (marking colon lesions) and had a heck of a time. Fortunately, it was concluded that it didn't need to be sterile. Let us know what you find out, we might be able to come up with a solution if you don't.

Thanks! For the info. I have trying contacting the manu. with no response. So I went to Infection Control and called a neighboring Hospital where the Dr. also practices they sent what they do. Sterilize at 275F, have to be smooth, no serrating or anything in the middle. That did help but I need manu. recommendations. Oh the life of being a Tech. I love the challenge it gives us each and everyday!
