We are remodeling our CS area, and there is controversy over whether or not it is really necessary to change the flooring. Currently, there is old tire flooring, but there are suggestions that it needs to be a seamless, perhaps vinyl flooring.
So, I wanted to poll others and ask if anybody knows where I might find documentation regarding floor requirements for a CS area.
Does your dept. have a seamless floor? Is this necessary?
Thanks!

Our department does have a seamless floor, and I think it is definitely necessary, especially in decontam. The other thing you might look out for is making sure that the flooring won't produce an ultra-slippery surface when it gets wet. We have a unique style of flooring that I have only seen in our department. It looks like maybe a textured concrete that has been painted with a no-slip surface. No seams and not slick, what more could a CS tech ask for?

We had tile flooring before we built the new hospital and it was sealed and waxed. No one ever questioned it. We now have seamless flooring.
