Staffing in my unit was set up ( before my time) based on productivity #. This is a measurement of wrapped items for sterilization. There are no productivity # for all the extraneous tasks CSr performs( i.e. equipment from all patient use, we pick up clean and dispense, specialty carts, trays boxes etc for all the units.) Does anyone use anymeasurment tool that would capture this work load volume outside of wrapped items.
Also, the trays brought in for surgeon special request that does not get here in time for us to process except wash and assemble and then we clean after case- but again do not wrap for terminal processing as representatives return to pick up. Thus, none of this work load is captured.
Any information would be helpful as I am trying to get staffing increased because of the work load that is not captured in productivity #'s currently in use
