We have received loaner trays that have been dropped off and have found tissue still present from the previous case. When this is brought to the attention of the vendor rep his response is that " you need to process them anyways". My reply is that the instruments should be thoroughly cleaned prior to leaving the other facility. Has anyone experienced this problem?? How do you handle it?? If they are being delivered late (I have instituted a policy to deliver by 4 pm the day before surgery--but we know that cases run late at other facilities) and are needed for next morning, my hands are really tied--I need to accept and process. Would it be wrong to charge a cleaning fee for the extra work required to process?? Let me know how others handle this situation. Thanks.
