I have two issues. 1. Has anyone found one disinfectant we can use on any pump, such as iv, pca, cadd, etc? 2. I know what AAMI standards say about Process Challenge Packs but I would like to know what others are doing. We are running a 4-minute pre-vac flash cycle with rigid containers designed for flash sterilization. I have been using CI PCD's on these loads. Am I operating in a paranoid overkill mode? I Also run BI PCD's on all my regular sterilizer cycles only because there is little cost difference between the BI and the CI PCD. What are you all doing? Thanks

Hi dbechard:
We use a product from Medline called Meritz Plus disinfectant (order # MDS 8840032) for pumps that we decontaminate. It comes ready mixed in a spray bottle and carries a TB kill time of 6 minutes. We've had no problems with it.
We are running the PCDs with a BI and a class 5 integrator with the first full load every morning. It is my understanding that a BI for each type of cycle run (i.e., gravity or pre-vac) must be run on each sterilizer. We also use the PCDs for challanging our implant loads.
HOpe this helps.
