Technicians are using OR towels that have been laundered to dry instruments in sterile. We've been receiving a lot of towels back with "lint". They are having to take extra time to make sure they are not leaving lint on the instruments. Is anyone using something else to dry instruments? Appreciate any assistance. thanks
Our washers have a drying cycle to start the process, then we let them air dry. For the stuff we hand wash, we have drying cabinets. I've never been a fan of hand drying instruments. Not only is there the risk of lint, as you have discovered, there is the possibility of a sharps injury. I want instruments handled as little as possible.

My people use to dry what the washer did not dry.But I ask them what was the sinse of running the hinge free in the washer if you were going to dry it off, by the time you inspect and lay your instruments out they should drip dry anyway. They spent alot of time drying each item.

We use compressed air.

We also use compressed air. We just had this installed about a month ago. Up until then 2 of our technician's towel dryed and I just layed them out. By the time I am done handling them they have pretty much dried.

Just be careful with OR towels that are disposable!
